Skid Row Concert at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort

Saturday, May 18, 2024 (8:00 PM - 10:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

The birth of Skid Row was marked by Snake Sabo, Rachel Bolan, and Rob Hammersmith. In a time where rebellion and punk were the driving force in pop culture, Snake, Rachel, and Rob knew they had the same mentality. Snake and Rachel knew with their talent and their passion for punk and metal, they had the opportunity to share it with a worldwide audience.

The first songs Rachel and Snake wrote had that same attitude of punk and rebellion. Scottie Hill was one of the first people to hear their first three songs, including “Clock Strikes Midnight,” one of their biggest first hits. Their first few songs made it worldwide, intriguing the interest of a young Swedish singer Erik Gronwall who later joined the band.

Skid Row released their first album “Skid Row” in 1989. With help from producer Nick Raskulinecz, they formed and produced that unique Skid Row sound, while still applying the rebellious kid mentality.

Skid Row’s second studio album Slave to the Grind reiterated the rebellious emotion. Slave to the Grind debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 and also reached 2x platinum status. As their first album was more closely related to 80s rock, Slave to the Grind introduced their own sound as more of a hardcore metal.

Due to Skid Row’s popularity, they were able to stay true to their original sound. Scottie admits that Rachel and Snake did the bulk of the writing, as Raskulinecz encouraged them to sound like the same band that first produced their original songs in a garage. It is because of Raskulinecz that Skid Row was able to stay original up to today.

Skid Row’s new album The Gang’s All Here is a revival of everything you ever loved about Skid Row. There’s a connectedness in the songs of this album that incorporate both new music and their old style. As new old music can get lost in new technology, Skid Row stays true to their sound. The Gang’s All Here will rekindle everything you felt that first time hearing Skid Row.
