Come celebrate member Towncrest Pharmacy's new location, Towncrest Wellness Apothecary, located at 901 S 1st Avenue in Iowa City.

History:

Towncrest Pharmacy has existed in the Iowa City area for approximately 60 years.  The original pharmacy, called Pearson’s Towncrest opened in 1963 in the southeast side of Iowa City located in the Towncrest Medical Center Complex.  Bill Haigh eventually assumed sole ownership and renamed the pharmacy, Towncrest Pharmacy.  In 1989, Bill Haigh brought Bernie Cremers on as a partner.  In 1991, Bill and Bernie moved Towncrest Pharmacy to its current location at 2306 Muscatine Avenue in Iowa City.  Mike Deninger and Randy McDonough became partners with Bernie and Bill in 2003 and 2006 respectively.  After the retirement of Bill and Bernie, Kelly Kent became a partner in 2019.  Most recently, Aaron McDonough became a partner in 2021.  Mike, Randy, Kelly and Aaron each own 25% of the Towncrest Corporation.

Towncrest Pharmacy in Iowa City has remained the anchor for their business.  In 2012, they opened a pharmacy in Solon, IA (Solon Towncrest Pharmacy).  In 2021, the partners had a vision to grow the Towncrest Pharmacy brand by opening up new practices and acquiring others.  They opened Towncrest Wellness Apothecary in January 2022 at the former location of the Printing House at 901 S. 1^st Avenue in Iowa City.  This practice is focused on compounding, functional medicine, and wellness products.  Next door, on the F street side, they opened Towncrest LTC—which focuses on long term care facilities and group homes. 

In March 2022, they acquired Bennett Pharmacy in New Hampton, IA.  By the end of June 2022, they will acquire three more community pharmacies.  The brand of pharmacy that Towncrest Pharmacy is focused on is providing outstanding customer service at an affordable price.  The owners firmly believe that being a local independent pharmacy means providing customized healthcare services to their patients to help them optimize their medications and health outcomes.  The owners developed the following Mission Statement and Core Values to guide their practice and their staff in their care of patients
